  • Setting up Costory to connect with your Confluent Cloud account for cost management

  • how to generate and provide the necessary access keys.

You will only need to provide to Costory:

  • API Secret

Setup

Step 1. Log into Your Confluent Account

  • Access Confluent and log in using your account credentials.

  • You must be a member of the OrganizationAdmin or BillingAdmin role.

Step 2. Create an API Key

To allow Costory to access usage and billing data, you’ll need to create an API key:

  • Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top right corner.

  • Navigate to Settings > API Keys.

  • Click Add API Key.

  • Under User Account, select your personal or service account (You will need to assign the sa the billing admin role).

  • For Resource scope, choose Cloud resource management.

  • Set a name (e.g., Costory) and description (Costory billing integration).

  • Once the key is created, download or copy the API key and secret.

Note: You will not be able to view the secret again. Store both the API key and secret securely (e.g., in a password manager).

Step 3. Providing Keys to Costory

  • Secure Method: Share both the API Key and Application Key with Costory using a password manager’s shared link feature.

  • Alternative Method: If you do not have a password manager, you can securely share the keys by:

    • Sending one part of the key via email.

    • Sending the other part via text message.

Step 4. Connecting Confluent to Costory

  • On the Costory Platform, Navigate to Settings > Integrations

  • Select Confluent and Name your Datasource

  • Then enter your API key and API Secret and click on "Next"

  • Import Parameters

  • If the API and Parameters keys are valid - you will see a notification confirming the successful Confluent integration.

    • Your data will now be loaded on the platform and be available shortly!
