Setting up Costory to connect with your Confluent Cloud account for cost management
how to generate and provide the necessary access keys.
You will only need to provide to Costory:
API Key
API Secret
Setup
Step 1. Log into Your Confluent Account
Access Confluent and log in using your account credentials.
You must be a member of the OrganizationAdmin or BillingAdmin role.
Step 2. Create an API Key
To allow Costory to access usage and billing data, you’ll need to create an API key:
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top right corner.
Navigate to Settings > API Keys.
Click Add API Key.
Under User Account, select your personal or service account (You will need to assign the sa the billing admin role).
For Resource scope, choose Cloud resource management.
Set a name (e.g.,
Costory) and description (Costory billing integration).Once the key is created, download or copy the API key and secret.
Note: You will not be able to view the secret again. Store both the API key and secret securely (e.g., in a password manager).
Step 3. Providing Keys to Costory
Secure Method: Share both the API Key and Application Key with Costory using a password manager’s shared link feature.
Alternative Method: If you do not have a password manager, you can securely share the keys by:
Sending one part of the key via email.
Sending the other part via text message.
Step 4. Connecting Confluent to Costory
On the Costory Platform, Navigate to Settings > Integrations
Select Confluent and Name your Datasource
Then enter your API key and API Secret and click on "Next"
Import Parameters
If the API and Parameters keys are valid - you will see a notification confirming the successful Confluent integration.
Your data will now be loaded on the platform and be available shortly!
